no way he fetches a 2nd, which is why he wont be traded. it will have to be a significant enough to deal to make Lou do it.

overpaid underproducing injury prone 31 year old with 5 goals in 60 games. Yup - GREAT pickup Lou. Are we "status quo" now? |

Can he do much worse than Lokti? - Devils Advocate
Considering Loktionov was scratched the majority of the time no.
I don't like that we gave up a pick without them eating a bit of salary, that wouldve been a better deal IMO. |

I just don't understand this trade....they get older, slower and now have less cap space next 2 years. I like Ruutu too but I feel, like others have said here time and time again, we already have "Ruutu type" players here already. I would like to see them get younger, faster and maybe get RID of some of their own high (bad) contracts. Just don't get it. |

Devils trading day is always so anticlimactic. |

I agree but com'on Lou, it's starting to be a league wide joke here that the whole league knows if they have a aging player who was "once" good but on a bad contract they can just trade them to us. |

If they dump one (or both...I'd cream) of Sal/A-Trainwreck I tjhink people would be a lot more on board with this. |

Feel like one of either Ryder or Zubrus just became baggage after this trade. Both are expensive, older, and less effective than Ruutu IMO |

Lou is a league wide joke? The Devils were in the SCF two years ago. Half the team leaves and he still has them being extremely competitive. Some of these posts are ridiculous. Plus, this is now the 2nd team in 2 years Loki has worn out his welcome so I don't think it's a big risk.
I like this deal. The cap goes up next year by 7 million. Marty comes off the books and they still have an amnesty buyout (hello Volchenkov). He can score 20, is a great addition to the third line and adds some "pain in the a$$" mentality that left with Clarkson. He's only 31 and isn't slow by any means. |

Not saying Lou is a joke but the idea that other teams seem to be either getting skilled players or young players/picks ....the devils seem to always go the older, slower and more expensive route. |

The bottom line is is this team now better? I think so.
What did you expect him to do? He pulled a Kovy deal once (most likely at the request of Vanderbeek) and look how that worked out. Plus, they have very limited assets and I don't see them mortaging their D prospects unless it's absolutely worth it |

He can score 20 ? I would love to see him score 20 he has 5 goals right now no where near on pace for twenty and likely will be in the same boat next year. Lou can't do no wrong... Yea he has been a fantastic gm but he has made bone head moves and poop went bad with Parise and Kovy but he was in control of choosing to draft matteau he was in charge of Clowe's crazy contract he has made some big mistakes |
